Austrian pianist and composer Elisabeth Harnik has worked in the field of improvised music since the nineties. She performs piano improvisations in Austria and abroad including festivals. Besides her solo performances she is a member of many ensembles of improvised music and collaborates with musicians from all over the world. She received several scholarships, awards and prizes at the last 2010 Residency at the OMI International Arts Center (N.Y.).

“Harnik makes sound sculptures in wire. They flex, sometimes break, change with the light, but they always seem to work.”
(Brian Morton, THE WIRE)

“Harnik… represents a new generation of improvisers who didn´t come to the discipline via jazz; she´s an accomplished classical pianist and composer who´s consistently proved that academic training is no impediment to spontaneity.”
